Finding Freedom

Leonora   -

Have you ever asked yourself what true freedom is, or what the freedom we have in Christ looks like?

Christ came to bring us freedom. Sin has lost its power over Christians, and neither the devil, death, nor sickness can rob us of this freedom. However, it’s possible to surrender it, which is why Paul urges us to stand firm and not return to slavery.

Christ’s purpose was to liberate us. Let’s explore ways to experience this freedom fully.

Here are four key points to consider:

Placing Yourself at the Center Leads to Bondage

Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me.”

Our world encourages self-centeredness, but this path leads to bondage rather than freedom. We often seek blessings, favor, health, and prominence, but without surrendering to Jesus as Lord.

True freedom comes from shifting our focus from ourselves to Christ. By making Him the center of our worship and pursuing Him wholeheartedly, we open ourselves to experiencing God’s miracles.

True Freedom Honors God’s Divine Design

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.”

The world often prioritizes physical appearance over spiritual well-being. While Paul doesn’t neglect our physicality, he emphasizes that our spiritual nature takes precedence. Pleasing God should be our ultimate goal.

We are created in God’s image, and He has the right to define true freedom. By identifying, desiring, and doing what aligns with His character, we honor His design for our lives. We are not our own; we belong to Christ and should live to glorify Him.

Freedom Leads to a Life of Faith

Matthew 6:25-26 says, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they are?”

One of the enemy’s lies is that following God leads to a lesser life. The truth is, when we follow God’s ways, we embrace His provision. We may not understand everything, but faith in Him is essential.

Questions to Guide Your Walk in Freedom

To protect our freedom in Christ, consider these questions:

  1. Does this decision honor Christ’s sacrifice or satisfy my desires?
  2. Is this decision aligned with Scripture?
  3. Does this decision require secrecy or dishonesty?
  4. Does this decision bring greater peace?
  5. Does this decision focus on eternal values?
