Devotional – Preparing for giving (Day 4)
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7b)
“…he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity…” (Romans 12:8)
“Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.” (Ephesians 6:6)
We have reached the end of this process of giving and offering; we have only the final step left—bringing.
To bring your offering to the Lord, we encourage you to do so:
- With joy
- With simplicity
- Without self-interest
How beautiful it is when bringing is the direct result of our times in prayer and of conscious, disciplined, and obedient planning. It is not an obligation; it is a fruit.
It is not something we do to look good on Sundays; it is something that comes out of intimacy with the Lord. It is not a simple act; it is the evidence of something deeper—a character aligned with the heart of the Lord.
Many times, we get used to doing things automatically, but the Lord wants them to be done consciously, from the heart. Today, we encourage you to enjoy every step in this process of giving.
Pray, plan, and bring what the Lord has put in your heart.
